Septic Tank

I’m not going to lie, it’s been a while since I last heard about septic tanks and if people still use them nowadays, however, we need to keep in mind that many people still need it in their properties that are probably in areas that have a poor drainage system.

Another reason for needing one is that the property is off the main sewage network. Both situations are very common. Most of the sewage systems are in urban areas since the water companies prioritized the installation in these areas.

Because of this, most rural areas don’t have a sewage system and every single person living there needs to have a septic tank on his property. Now, what is it and how does it work? Well, it is simpler than it looks. It is a rectangular underground tank or container for wastewater. It not only stores this water, but it semi-purifies it as well.

Basically, it collects the wastewater from toilets, showers, laundry rooms, etc., and treats them in several stages. One of them is to make the mud set to the bottom of the tank. The final result should be treated waters free of mud and several bacteria. Most people don’t really like septic tanks because they think or feel they are always smelly and that it isn’t the best solution. However, even though that may be true, it is only because people don’t do the proper maintenance. Yes, it needs maintenance if you don’t want an invitation to waterborne diseases and spend a lot of money trying to repair your septic system.
